The Mad Trapper story is a mysterious part of local Aklavik history and is one of the most interesting pieces of culture the area has to offer. Recent interest in this subject inspired a grave-site excavation to discover this man's true identity. The documentary "Hunt for the Mad Trapper" was developed by Myth Merchant films and the book "Unearthing a Mystery" was authored by Barbara Smith - both the film and the book elaborate on the excavation findings.
